Privacy Policy
Domi is a family organizer made by Appex Technology Solutions LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the Domi website, iPhone app, Chrome extension and desktop app collect, how it's used, and the choices you have. We don't sell your personal information and we don't use it for advertising.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and profile photo when you sign up (directly or with Google or Apple).
- Household content: family member names, roles, avatars and birthdates; tasks and chores, calendar events, recipes, grocery lists and meal plans; rewards and points; board posts; homeschool records; and the family information you choose to store (for example emergency contacts, medical notes, school details).
- Screen Time settings: device names, block schedules, website and app-name lists, parent PIN (stored only as a one-way hash) and NFC/RFID card IDs (stored only as one-way hashes).
- Events and gift lists: event details and the names, email addresses and phone numbers of guests you invite; their RSVPs and notes; gift list items; and the names (and optional emails) of people who claim gifts.
- Library reading: for each family member, the books on their shelf, where they are in each book, and the highlights, bookmarks and notes they make. These are visible to the adults in your household. Books you download are stored on your device, and your notes stay in your account when a download is removed.
- Messages you send us, such as support email.
Information collected automatically
- Usage analytics on the website (PostHog): pages and features used, device and browser type, and approximate location from IP address. It doesn't record the text on your screen or what you type. We use it to understand which features help families and to fix problems.
- Managed devices: a paired device reports its name, platform, app version, when it last checked in, and block/unblock activity so parents can see that rules are working. The desktop app and Chrome extension check the sites and app names you choose to block against what's open on that computer; they don't send browsing history to us.
- iPhone Screen Time: apps and categories you pick are chosen through Apple's Screen Time system. Apple gives Domi only opaque tokens, not the names of apps or what you do in them, and the blocking itself happens on the device.
- Guest pages: when a guest opens an invite we record that it was viewed, so hosts can see who opened it.
Connected services
Google Calendar
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. If you connect a Google account, Domi asks Google for permission to:
- see the list of calendars in that account (their names and colors), so you can choose which ones to show in Domi;
- see, add, change and delete events on your calendars, so events from the calendars you choose appear in your family calendar in Domi, and so events you add, edit or delete in Domi for a Google calendar are updated in Google Calendar too;
- see the email address of the Google account, so Domi can show which account is connected.
What we store: the Google account's email address, the calendars you chose, the access tokens Google gives us (used only by our servers to keep your calendars in sync), and a copy of each synced event (title, date and time, location, description and calendar color) from about six months ago to six months ahead. Synced events are shown to the members of your Domi household. We keep this only while the calendar is connected.
What we don't do: we don't sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone other than the members of your household and the service providers that run Domi for us (Convex and Vercel), and only to provide this feature. People at Domi don't read your Google data unless you ask us to (for example in a support request), or it's needed for security or to comply with the law. We don't use Google user data to develop, improve or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Disconnecting: you can remove a Google connection at any time: on the web in Settings → Connected Calendars, or in the iPhone app under Calendar → Calendars. Domi then deletes the tokens and its copies of that account's events. Nothing is deleted from Google Calendar. You can also remove Domi's access in your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Limited Use: Domi's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Addresses and weather
When you search for an address (for example for an event or your home), what you type is sent to Google Maps to suggest places. If you add a ZIP code, we look up its location with Google Maps and send that approximate location (not your address) to Apple Weather for the forecast.
The Domi Chrome extension
The extension works only with your Domi account and only does what you ask it to:
- Saving from a page: when you open the extension, it looks at the page you're on, on your computer, to see whether there's a recipe, event or product to offer. For a social media post (for example Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook or Pinterest) it sends the post's link to Domi so we can read the recipe in it. When you save something (Save recipe, Add to a wish list, Add to calendar, Share on the family board, or the right-click menu), the details of that item, the page address and any text you selected are stored in your Domi account.
- Blocking: on a browser paired for Screen Time, the extension compares the sites you open with the household's block list on the computer itself. Visited sites and browsing history are never sent to us. When a focus with the adult-content filter is on, it turns on SafeSearch on Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo and Restricted Mode on YouTube.
- Stored in the browser: a sign-in key for your account, a pairing key for Screen Time, the current blocking rules (so blocking works offline) and your notification settings. Removing the extension deletes them.
- The extension doesn't include analytics or ads, and doesn't sell, share or use what it reads for anything other than the feature you used. Our use of information from the extension complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
Domi is used by parents and guardians to organize their household. Children don't create accounts; a parent adds them as family members and controls what's stored about them. A child's device paired for Screen Time is set up by a parent. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 except as directed by their parent through the app. A parent can review, change or delete a child's information at any time in the app, or ask us at support@my-domi.com.
How we use information
- To provide Domi: sync your household across devices, send the invitations, reminders and messages you ask us to send, and enforce the Screen Time rules you set.
- To keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and fix bugs.
- To understand and improve how Domi is used.
- To contact you about your account or important changes.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the people you choose (members of your household, and guests you invite) and with service providers that run Domi for us under contracts that limit their use of it:
- Clerk (sign-in and account security)
- Convex (database and backend)
- Vercel (website hosting)
- Cloudflare (stores and delivers library book files and covers; it sees the device's IP address when a book or cover is downloaded)
- Resend (email delivery)
- Twilio (text-message delivery, when used)
- PostHog (website analytics)
- Google (if you connect Google Calendar or sign in with Google, and for address search and ZIP code locations) and Apple (Sign in with Apple, Screen Time, push notifications, weather)
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (in which case this policy continues to apply).
Retention and deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Settings (web or iPhone). If you're the only person signed in to your household, deleting your account erases the household and everything in it. If others share the household, your login and personal account data are deleted and the shared household stays with them. Deleted data is removed from our active systems right away and from backups within 30 days. Guests can ask the host, or us, to remove their details from an event.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, or to object to certain uses. Most of this can be done directly in the app; for anything else email support@my-domi.com. We'll respond within 30 days and won't treat you differently for exercising your rights.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is limited to your household, and sensitive values such as PINs and card IDs are stored only as hashes. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.
Changes
If we make material changes we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect.
